A Mac Demarco Album Review
« on: February 16, 2018, 12:35:29 PM »
Someone else has asked for this before, but I'd definitely like to see it happen, since Mac Demarco is basically the reason why I started to be interested in cassettes and tape stuff.

For anyone interested, there's a neat article here, where he talks about his analog tape gear:

I have that issue of TapeOp, and Mac is a talented dude. I don't know if he used the cassette stuff to record that "Chamber Of Reflection" track but whatever he used he knocked that one out of the park. Great song.

;D That's the Pepperoni Playboy Doc, it's so interesting to see the vibe that he has! That's the first time I really ever saw a R2R in action.

For Chamber of Reflection, look here for a full breakdown of the song, with the synths used (mainly Juno-60) and the tape unit effects (he recorded that song on the Fostex A8 reel to reel machine you see in the video!)

Yeah, I'd like to do something on Mac. Let me think about it. Would be cool to interview him over Skype on Coffee With Mike... I'm sure he's a busy guy but it couldn't hurt to ask...

Def go for it! That dude is seriously chill and he's given interviews to some pretty obscure outlets...I'm sure this channel would be right up his alley.
