424 smoking?
« on: October 10, 2018, 07:09:58 PM »
Hey y’all.

I’ve been using a 424 MKIII for a little over a year but this past week it stopped powering on. I opened it up to see what the issue was and I was for SURE that it was the 3300uf 25v caps (I’m not an electrician, but it looked like they leaked or... something) so I replaced them.

I should say, before I replaced them I tried to power it on several times, where one time the power supply started smoking. I figured that supply was kaput but I had an extra one.

So today I replaced the caps and tried powering it on. Nothing. But this time the machine itself started smoking (it looked like it was coming from the motor). Does anyone know the issue here? What could keep it from powering on? And why was it smoking? Is done for? I appreciate any and all help!
